Driving Expectations at Innovate 2011

At the time of registrations we asked the audience today, what are they expecting from this event. Interesting morning conversation with plenty of images.

Badrinath, Senior consulatant at  Wipro, said he is here to  to know more about rational team concert and rational software architecture and how it is helping enterprises grow, while  Joe Joseph, HCL, spoke about having a Product wise understanding of Quality Management and Configuration Management.

Ashwit, Microgenesis– Here to know more about Rhapsody.

BG Shyamala, Vidhan Soudha- I want to gain an understanding of all Rational tools and offerings.

Innovate 2011 has plenty to be WON!!!

Innovate 2011 kick starts tomorrow at The Leela Palace, Bangalore. The flagship event of IBM Rational software will celebrate its 7th anniversary this year and to make this one really “Innovative”, we have got some really exciting things to do, which if you ‘DO’, you WIN!!!

Using IBM Rational Team Concert and IBM Rational Rhapsody for Android development

The demo showcases how a distributed team working on an Android application can leverage the functionality provided by IBM Rational tools, namely IBM RTC and IBM Rational Rhapsody (let’s call it the Rational Solution) through the complete lifecycle of the application, right from planning, design to implementation to design and testing, and even defect tracking.

Rational Automation Framework @ Innovate 2011

Rhapsody VoiCE @ Innovate India Banglore 2011

I am pleased to inform you that the Rational’s VoiCE of the Client Event (VoiCE), which is planned to be held on Tuesday, August 09th in Bangalore , a  one-day event hosted by Rational’s Client Program team will provide you with the opportunity to meet directly with key leaders and decision makers from IBM. You can take advantage of this opportunity to influence the direction of Rational products, and interact with other clients from the Rational community.

The event takes place immediately preceding IBM Innovate 2011: The Rational Software Conference (August 10 – 11 in Bangalore and Aug 11 in Delhi).

 

The VoiCE sessions center on candid discussions with Rational clients who are forward-thinking, innovative, and have a desire to influence Rational’s products, strategy, and business decisions. The sessions provide you with the following benefits:

·    Significant input into steering product direction
·    Access to key decision makers within IBM Rational
·    Influence over product capabilities, enhancements and support
·    Insight into IBM Rational development plans

This will be an interactive session to discuss and get feedback on the latest releases and roadmap for Rational Rhapsody . We will introduce Rational Design Manager which focuses on aspects of how we are integrating design and development into the overall application lifecycle using the Jazz platform to improve collaboration, sharing and oversight of application architectures. The session will be a technical deep dive for MDD and MBSE with Rational Rhapsody and giving an overview of the product roadmaps, with discussion of user scenarios, requirements, integrations, and use cases.

The session will be conducted by Eran Gery IBM Distinguished Engineer for Systems Solutions Development and a senior development manager and the principal architect of the Rhapsody product at IBM Rational Software.
Eran has over 20 years of experience within the modeling and embedded systems domains. Eran has also taken a key role in the UML and SysML specification teams in the OMG. Eran’s main focus areas are Systems Engineering, Model Driven Development, and Engineering Lifecycle Management.   Early in his career Eran was an embedded software engineer at a major defense supplier.  Eran holds an MSc degree in computer science from the Technion , Israel Institute of Technology.

These VoiCE sessions will focus on the future direction of Rational products and product requirements.  We will also include follow-up information from previous VoiCE discussions. The VoiCE team will assist with this process as soon as we receive a registration.

Implement access restrictions to your EA Artifacts Using Rational System Architect Catalog Manager

The ever increasing challenges of modern day enterprises demand organization to design of effective Enterprise Architecture (EA) for them to succeed and stay alive in the competition.  For EA to be effective, it requires collaboration from many professionals, some of them directly designing/modifying the EA and while others are stakeholders who use the EA to make critical strategic decisions. These decisions in turn define the direction of the organization.

To deliver effective EA, many users have to collaborate. It then becomes equally important to have proper “Visibility” to all users to avoid “reinventing of wheel”.  However at the same time it opens the doors for accidental modifications from inexperienced users creating inconsistency in the system. The after-effects are hard to imagine/foresee and sometimes unexpectedly destructive.

 

Now in this critical environment where “Visibility” and “Security” form two faces of the same coin, how do you manage effective delivery of EA?  While there are many tools which allow creation of EA, IBM Rational System Architect (SA) comes bundled with answers to many more questions than just EA.  While Rational System Architect gives you the platform and also forms the tool to design the EA, the Catalog Manager with its “Instance Level” and “Type Level” access Control capabilities complements, completes and addresses the key requirements of “Visibility” and “Security”.  There is more that catalog manager helps you with. Rational System Architect also offers a thin client known as System Architect XT (Extended Team) which helps sharing EA through browser. For an encyclopedia that contains EA artifacts to be made accessible by Rational System Architect XT, it must be an Enterprise encyclopedia controlled by Rational System Architect Catalog Manager.
